Philip Davis is the Solid Waste Director for the City of Memphis, where he has served for thirteen years. A seasoned environmental professional, Philip is a recognized leader in the field of solid waste management.
As Chairman of the Shelby County Municipal Solid Waste Planning Region and a member of the Tennessee Composting Council Board of Directors, Philip is deeply committed to sustainable waste management practices. He is also the West Tennessee Public Director for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA).
Prior to his role as Solid Waste Director, Philip served as the Deputy Director of the Tennessee Division of Solid and Hazardous Waste Management regulatory program. His extensive experience in both regulatory oversight and collections equips him with a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the waste management industry.
A licensed Professional Geologist with a Master of Science degree in Geology from the University of Memphis, Philip brings a strong scientific foundation to his work. He is certified by SWANA as an Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems Manager and a graduate of the Tennessee Government Management Institute, demonstrating his dedication to continuous learning and professional development.
