Bryan Black started his career as a commercial electrician in 2007, then moved into wholesale power in 2012. He started his utility career at Black Hills Power, where he traded and dispatched on behalf of the Black Hills Energy Portfolio. He then moved to Tenaska Power Services (TPS) where he traded in every power market in the U.S. During his time at TPS, Black managed over 60,000 MW of power generation across the U.S. From TPS, he moved to Utah and became the Director or Market Operations for UAMPS, then ultimately promoted to Chief Operating Officer. As Director and COO, Black oversaw a 1,200 MW load for 54 municipal utilities in seven western states and managed a book of ~$350m in annual electricity sales. At UAMPS, he was also in charge of strategic growth and new developments, including the development and marketing for UAMPS’ 600 MW Small Modular Nuclear Reactor to be developed at the Idaho National Lab. Black is currently a Co-Founder and CEO of Nodal Power, a Landfill Gas to Energy development company.
