Ms. Shirlene Sitton

Shirlene Sitton is currently the City of Santa Fe Environmental Services Division Director, which includes commercial and residential trash and recycling collections, Sustainability, and Keep Santa Fe Beautiful. She has worked in Solid Waste & Recycling for municipal governments for 20 years and has experience operating commercial and residential recycling programs, organics composting, household hazardous waste collections, and public outreach and education programs.

Shirlene is past President of the New Mexico SWANA Roadrunner chapter, and is currently the New Mexico AB Rep. She has been a SWANA member over her entire solid waste career, being involved in many SWANA programs from State and National Road-E-O competitions to organizing recycling for Wastecon. Her programs have won two national SWANA silver awards.

Her educational background includes a B.S. in Renewable Natural Resource Conservation from Texas A&M University, and Master’s work in Environmental Science at the University of North Texas.
