Mr. Kappelmeier’s 30-year career has an extensive background in Biogas process design, customer focused product development & application, project management, and process engineering. He recently joined Ameresco as the Director of Project Development in the Landfill Gas Operations Department. He has over a decade of experience as a director at his previous companies. He was the Director of Solutions Development at Air Liquide Advanced Technologies and Director of Field Engineering at Archaea Energy. There are 60 operating RNG facilities Mr. Kappelmeier has had key involvement in the design and engineering of. He also worked on 200 projects in preliminary design, where he worked with third party customers to develop a specific RNG design that would meet the company’s needs. Mr. Kappelmeier managed his team, composed of electrical and chemical process engineers to start up the largest in the world landfill gas system.
Mr. Kappelmeier has applied his vast background to his current position at Ameresco. As Director of Project Development, he works closely with the business development team on new RNG applications for landfills, wastewater treatment plants and digester applications and leads the technical responses for RFP’s and RFQ’s. His other duties include reviewing system designs for new projects, working with the engineering team to ensure the equipment designs meet Ameresco’s expectations. He is also working on growing Ameresco’s name in the Hydrogen energy sector by developing relationships with key stakeholders, along with reviewing and analyzing different Hydrogen technologies to determine the best suited applications for it in Ameresco.
