Join the City of Phoenix’s Public Works Department for a tour of the 27th Avenue Campus facilities including a material recovery facility (MRF), transfer station, compost facility, and the Resource Innovation Campus. Peak at the transfer station before walking the floor of a brand new, state-of-the-art MRF. Learn more about Phoenix’s green organics solutions by exploring the compost facility and get a glimpse into the ongoing development of the Resource Innovation Campus—the city’s 40-acre circular economy business park. Tours will be led by the city’s zero waste team and there will also be opportunities to learn more about the city’s outreach and engagement efforts tied to zero waste and a circular economy.

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

Dress code requirement: Closed toe shoes.

Tour Schedule Outline:

  • 9:00 AM: Check-in at the Phoenix Convention Center - South Building
  • 9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Transport to the City of Phoenix 27th Avenue Campus
  • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: City of Phoenix 27th Avenue Campus tour
  • 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM: Transport back to Phoenix Convention Center

If a tour capacity is reached you will have the option to be added to a waitlist. We will release people from the waitlist as/if space opens up, until Thursday, April 11. If you have not received notice of availability by that date it means the tour remains at capacity.

Maximum Capacity: 25 people
Minimum Capacity: 10 people * If this capacity is not met the experience will be cancelled and SWANA staff will notify those impacted.
