Managing Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems covers the many and varied duties of the solid waste system manager, exploring concepts related to the effective planning, development, and management of solid waste systems.

The course combines self-study with live, instructor-led debriefings that help you ingrain key concepts and apply them to your work. SWANA offers this course as a stand-alone learning experience that can also be used to supplement the learning and experience needed to fully prepare for certification in this discipline.

OBJECTIVES:

Managing ISWM Systems gives industry professionals an excellent grounding in the various issues involved in the management of solid waste systems, including:

  • Planning, Regulatory Considerations, and Public Education
  • Facility Basics (landfills, transfer stations, waste-to-energy facilities)
  • Collection Systems
  • Recycling and Reuse Programs
  • Management of Hard-to-Handle Wastes

FORMAT:

This course is designed as a 100% virtual learning experience that combines self-study and real-time, instructor-led debriefings. In the debriefings, SWANA-certified faculty members guide you through the key concepts of each lesson and teach you how to apply what you're learning to your everyday work life. The 75-minute debriefings will be held twice a week for four weeks in February 2022.

MATERIALS:

The course includes the Managing Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems digital course manual and immediate access to 19 video recordings of the course lessons. You will receive access to the digital course manual within three business days of registration. (The hard-copy coursebook is available at an additional charge and may take up to 10 business days to receive.)

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT:

Upon completion of the course, SWANA awards participants 30 continuing education credits.
