Zachary Prater is an Applied Anthropology Master's Student at the University of North Texas. His research focuses around gender and the ways in which gendered phenomena manifest different domains of life. His analysis of data collected for the TxSWANA project demonstrates that gender plays a significant role in waste management, particularly at the household level where women demonstrate higher levels of recycling competence than their male counterparts even while men are more often responsible for waste disposal.
