Michelle Langdon is a professional civil engineer with over 19 years of experience. She has a bachelor’s degree from Portland State University and a master’s degree from Norwich University, both in Civil Engineering. Michelle is a Project Manager and Engineer for Great West specializing in all aspects of Waste Management, from landfills to transfer stations to HHW facilities. Michelle began her career working for a County landfill for almost a decade and she brings this unique perspective to her teaching. Michelle passionate about teaching, bridging the planning/operations gap and providing realistic and unique solutions to waste management challenges.

Michelle currently resides in Boise with her family and 2 goofy labs. She enjoys anything outdoors, spends her summers in the water and loves to challenge herself by participating in triathlons and mud runs.

Robin Ennis retired from Montgomery County, MD in 2020, where she served as the Chief of Solid Waste and Recycling Collection for 13 years. Previously, she served as the Director of Collections, Customer Service, Recycling, and Media Arts for the Palm Beach County Solid Waste Authority, where she and her team earned an Emmy Award for their weekly television show, eTV. Ms. Ennis has been an active member of SWANA for 25 years, was elected Vice President and President of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter, and has earned six certifications. She is a SWANA-certified faculty member, who teaches five courses: Manager of Landfill Operations, Managing Municipal Solid Waste Collection Systems, Managing Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems, Managing Recycling Systems, and Zero Waste Principles and Practices.

Risa Weinberger is a licensed Professional Engineer and owns a consulting firm specializing in solid waste, particularly composting and organics diversion. She has practiced engineering as a consultant to the solid waste and composting industry nationwide for 36 years. Ms. Weinberger holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Vanderbilt University in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. She also holds a Class A Solid Waste License in Texas, and is a SWANA-certified Composting Systems Manager. She represents the composting industry on the solid waste advisory body to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. She is a co-author and instructor of the Managing Composting Programs course offered by SWANA, and an instructor for SWANA’s Organics Collection course, various eLearning courses, and other training for various solid waste and environmental organizations. Ms. Weinberger has trained numerous compost facility operators and fire fighters regarding the unique characteristics of fires at compost facilities throughout Texas and in Utah.
