Prabhjot Kaur is a Program Analyst for the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment working on Product Stewardship with a focus on electronics, batteries and paint in addition to Donation & Reuse. She also is a member of the inaugural Leadership Academy of 2022. She immigrated from Punjab, India and relocated to the Central Valley region of California where she spent most of her youth, sparking her interest in environmental and sustainability issues related to resource management and social equity. After graduating from Syracuse University in 2018 with degrees in International Relations and Energy & Its Impacts she began her career interest in recycling and diversion as a sustainability fellow for the County of San Mateo followed by pivot to solid waste management for the City of San Jose. Her primary interests are in policy and regulations, racial equity and diversity in addition to accessibility for residents in metropolitan areas who seek to engage in environmentally and community minded behavior change. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, powerlifting and shopping for second-hand treasures.
