A landfill is perfect for engaging all ages of the community with a wealth of knowledge related to operations, environmental impact and topics for future generations to consider in relation to solid waste and waste reduction. From career options, to science content, to building community awareness, this session will share strategies and ideas that staff in the Solid Waste/Sustainability division of City of Springfield Missouri's Dept. of Environmental Services are utilizing to engage citizens and build community ownership of our solid waste infrastructure and resources.  Topics in this session include: incorporating storytelling, avoiding tech-talk, use of hands-on activities and demonstrations and building community advocates.
