Join City of San Diego staff to see how a large Landfill operates. The Miramar Landfill is permitted to accept up to 8,000 tons per day with 2,000 vehicle trips. With services like compost and greenery recycling, the City is doing its part to ensure waste materials are recycled from the landfill. This two-hour bus tour will give you a peek behind-the-scenes to find out what happens when you operate so close to a military runway and how the covered aerated static piles function. As a safety precaution, please wear pants and close-toed shoes.
