Industry Approach to Lithium-Ion Battery Fires
Meeting Room 150
Fires caused by lithium-ion batteries are increasingly common in collections vehicles, at collection sites, transfer stations, MRFs, and landfills. SWANA’s first strategic goal is to make the industry safer, and our strategic plan specifically includes the need to address lithium-ion batteries, as they are a growing safety risk for workers in the industry.
This session will provide background on this issue and an overview of SWANA’s work on the topic, followed by an interactive discussion of possible solutions through communications, policy, technology, and innovation. Join us to discuss solutions to this important challenge to the industry.
